应该说邓波儿的成功是与当时美国的社会情况分不开的，当时美国国内经济萧条，股市下跌，失业现象严重，人民急需要心灵上的慰藉。这个时候，秀兰·邓波儿出现了，只要花上几十美分到电影院，立刻能够带给你快乐。这个时候的美国诸如《绿野仙踪》等电影大行其道，当然也诞生了《金刚》这样的经典大片。电影是那个时候唯一能够给予大家快乐的东西。

今年，年近80的秀兰·邓波儿获得了美国演员工会协会颁发的终身成就奖，这对她来说，是当之无愧的。在过去的半个多世纪里，她给全世界的人民带去了欢乐。她是真正的大明星，你的祖父母喜欢着她，你父母喜欢着她，当然，你也喜欢着她。
